Aashir Hasnain Aka “AASHU BHAA”
Current age: 38 Years Major teams: Abn Amro, NIB Bank, Faysal Bank, HSBC, Wombats CC Playing role: All Rounder Batting style: Right-hand bat Bowling Style: Right Arm Fast
Made his debut for Wombats Yellows towards the end of last season and immediately made the headlines with his breathtaking innings of 121* off merely 50 balls in his second game for the club which included massive sixes in all directions of the of the ground.
Feared for his lusty blows with the bat and his consistent and accurate swing bowling, he hardly noticed his talent as a child and almost gave up the sport mainly due to the struggles he endured while bowling long unfruitful spells to his brother Maisam Hasnain (who went on to represent Pakistan under 19 and nearly made it to Pakistan team) in backyard cricket.
Aashir originally wanted to be a model but had to settle for banking due to massive hair loss early on and joined ABN Amro Bank in Pakistan and subsequently ABN Cricket team where he got second opportunity to hone his bowling skills to challenge his brother however, Maisam was in to a different league by then and was involved in Pakistan 1st Class cricket therefore, he gave that dream up before it materialized.
That stint with ABN Amro team was a life changer as it helped Aashir unearth his own batting talent which had never surfaced before, he spent no time in establishing himself as an opener in the team, he scored heavily against weaker bowling attacks and not so fluently against good oppositions but still perceived to be an asset in any side in the cricketing circuit. Soon became a sought after commodity for clubs during Ramzan tournaments in Karachi and went on to represent multiple clubs with limited success however, maintained his astonishing strike rate of over 200 per 100 balls which was rare… (In those days at least)
Started representing his employer HSBC Bank in 2013 in different leagues and was made captain of the side for 2015 season where he launched himself as new ball swing bowler (to compensate for consistent low scores), although the wickets column remained under populated but his economy rate achieved greater heights and ended the season as most economical bowler* in DSL 2015-16.
(*self-proclaimed analysis, refer to stats for confirmation)
In his 1st full season with UAE`s biggest cricket club, Aashir has his eyes fixed on the DSL trophy for this season before he could inspire the new breed of model turned cricketers with his (arguably) unmatched talent. All the very best!!
